August 1 marks the beginning of the Andean New Year. The entire month of August is dedicated to honoring Pachamama, Mother Earth. In Cusco, the shamans come down from the remote mountain communities to perform despacho ceremonies. These ceremonies are offerings to Pachamama to express gratitude and rebalance natural harmony.
Río Yoyato is an absolutely stunning turquoise river located in the Alto Urubamba region of the Peruvian Amazon. We had an absolute blast exploring this area over the last few days!
The last few days we have been exploring the Alto Urubamba River, which is an absolutely beautiful section of the Amazon. SUPing Pongo de Mainique was definitely a highlight and one of the most amazing things we have ever done!
